The Financial Times has refused to print Amnesty’s anti-Shell advert. According to Amnesty the ad was due to appear today as Shell held its London AGM.
The advertisement focused on the appalling human rights record of Shell in Nigeria and compared the company’s 9.8bn profits with the consequences of pollution caused by the oil giant for the people of the Niger Delta.
Harmful practices like gas flaring and oil spills which have not been adequately cleaned up have left communities with no option but to eat contaminated fish, drink poisoned water, farm on spoiled land and breathe in polluted air that stinks of oil and gas.Make Shell come clean in the Niger Delta
Glad there’s slowly more awareness going on.
